11401490_1642487902658994_6151045476412434832_nKambhampati Hari Babu is an Indian politician and a member of parliament to the 16th Lok Sabha from Visakhapatnam (Lok Sabha constituency), Andhra Pradesh. He won the Indian general election, 2014 being a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate. He is the state unit President of Bharatiya Janata Party for the residual Andhra Pradesh.
Hari Babu was born in Prakasam district thimmasamudram . He made himself into Visakhapatnam to pursue his B.Tech in Electronics and communication engineering in Andhra University four decades ago. He completed his masters as well as PhD from the same university. He later worked in Andhra University and voluntarily retired while working as Associate Professor in the year 1993 and later became active in politics.

Political Career

1972 – Participated in Jai Andhra movement in support for the creation of Andhra state as

Student leader with Tenneti Viswanadham, Sardar Gouthu Latchanna and Sri. Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu.

1972-1973 – Secretary, Students Union Andhra University Engineering College.

1974-1975 – Actively participated in Lok Sangharsh Samithi Agitation under Loknayak Jaya

Prakash Narayan and was arrested under Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA)

during emergency and was imprisoned for 6 months in Visakhapatnam Central Jail and

Mushirabad Jail.

1977 – AP State Executive Member, Janata Party.

1978 – AP State Vice President, Janata Yuva Morcha.

1988 – General Secretary, Andhra University Teachers Association.

1991-1993 – Andhra Pradesh State Executive Committee Member, BJP.

1993-2003 – General Secretary, A.P State, BJP.

1998-2005 – Member, The Marine Products Export Development Authority. Ministry of Commerce,

Govt. of India.

1999 – Elected as Member of Legislative Assembly from Visakhapatnam-I Constituency.

2003 – Floor Leader, Bharatiya Janata Legislature Party, Andhra Pradesh.

2003-2004 – Member, Task Force on Interlinking of Rivers,Ministry of Water Resources, Govt. of India

2005 – National Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party.

2013 – Member of National Disciplinary Committee, BJP.

Mar 2014 – State President, Andhra Pradesh.

Present – Elected as Member of Parliament, Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha Constituency during

General Elections-2014.
